This lifetime project aims at bringing attention to the education profession through an annual recognition programme which honors some 14 categories of persons and institutions adjudged by a well- chosen panel as the most outstanding achievers and performers in the educational endeavors of the people of the Northern States & the FCT.
The awards are given annually to persons and institutions ’ adjudged by the panel of being deserving as honor. All in all, some fourteen categories of awards are considered. These are:
- Primary School Teacher of the Year
- Gender- Friendly School of the Year
- Headmaster/ Headmistress of the Year
- Science Teacher of the Year
- Arts Teacher of the Year
- Introductory Tech Teacher of the Year
- Principal of the Year
- Best Performing School of the Year
- Best Student of the year
- Education Administrator of the Year
- Friend of Education of the Year
- Patron of Education of the Year
- Education Researcher of the Year
- Community Education Supporter of the year
The first three of these awards are awarded to persons at the primary school level. The next six are awarded at the Secondary School level. Award number (10) would be given to education, while award number (11) would go to a corporate organization or an NGO involved in education. Award number (12) is designed to pay honor and tribute to a retired or dead individual who has devoted his life energies to the development of education in the region. Award number (13) would be awarded to an individual, institution or NGO, for outstanding research in education. Finally, award number (14) is designated to honor a community for outstanding contribution to its educational development.
In addition: to permanent recognition in The Garkuwa Education Hall of Fame, each inductee will receive the following:
- A Certificate of honor and a plaque
- An Academic Robe of the Hall of Fame and
- A cash award
Individuals inducted into The Garkuwa Education Hall of Fame shall serve as ambassadors of the Hall of Fame and the teaching profession, and are expected to uphold the standards of excellence set forth by the education community.
